I’ve tried out and reviewed some pretty unusual shoes recently. It seems to be almost a requirement for minimal shoe companies to produce ever stranger designs. Personally, I like this, as it’s refreshing to see people thinking outside the box. I do, however also believe that the uptake of minimal shoes could be even greater than we’ve seen if more companies would produce shoes that looked as good as they felt to wear.
Enter Vivobarefoot. The rest of the world have been lucky and have had access to Vivobarefoot shoes for quite some time now. Here in Australia, however, we have missed out…until now.
Vivobarefoot make shoes for all occasions from running and walking, to relaxing and even working at the office. They have shoes for men, women and children, in a variety of styles and colours.
If you’re interested in learning more about Vivobarefoot shoes, then watch this space, because BeginningBarefoot.com is going to be bringing you a sneak-peak at some of the best offerings to arrive in Australia. Right now, we’re in the process of testing out the new Gobi design, a stylish, office-friendly shoe with a super-thin 3mm sole. Think ‘minimal desert boot‘, and you’re on the right track.
In the meantime, how would you like a chance to win Vivobarefoot shoes for you and your whole family? Now’s your chance! From now until October 17th, all you have to do is head over to the Vivobarefoot Australia/NZ Facebook page and click on the Free Your Family’s Feet link. This is a great opportunity to win some excellent shoes, so be sure to put your name down!

Hey Dawesy!!! Keen to follow your blog- barefoot running sounds like a beautiful idea that lets you explore the limitations of your own body and get a bit closer to nature without those awkward soles getting in the way. I’m flat-footed and am always wondering if slowly easing into minimalist footwear will allow my feet to develop a natural arch. I’ll have to give it a try sooner or later
Also, can you do me a big favour? I’m starting up a WordPress progress blog to track myself and hopefully link up with a buddy around my age and build, but I need to get the word out there. Could you please take the time to share with all the Rebels on WordPress?
The blog is “The Rebellion Begins” at http://bardofthetimewar.wordpress.com/.
Thank you so much!! I know how important you are to NF and your help is really appreciated. Thank you
Hey Con,
There is precious little actual study on whether flat feet can be fixed with minimal shoes or barefooting. The people I have spoken to for whom it has worked have all said that going full barefoot, and easing in extremely slowly was the trick. Think 1 minute of barefooting to start…see how it feels then add another minute the next day, repeat. A lot depends on your personal circumstances, but as long as you take it slow you should be fine.
So full barefoot means without any shoes at all? Ok… something to think about. Cheers for the advice
Hey Con, anything for a Rebel. I don’t really know too many of us on WordPress, but I tweeted your blog address to the NF community. Also, you may want to check out these threads in the forums:

Thank you so much Dawsy!
It’s so appreciated. And I would PM you, but since I’m still under-age, I don’t think I can get into the forums. But still, thank you for the kind offer and for thinking of me. Cheers
No problem. Feel free to email me at bfdawsy@beginningbarefoot.com if you need anything then
